We arrived in early spring and was told the only campsites available were in the Brannan Island loop because the Franks Tract campground was submerged under water and has been that way for a while. We camped at the Olympic loop which was only for RV's and trailers at campsite #104. The area was pretty marshy with trees, high grass and lots of mosquito's! I had to make sure I was covered from head to toe with my bug repellent, skin so soft from AVON. Yes, you heard it right, this stuff really works. I spray it into my hands and wipe down my hair and face and anything else that was exposed. (Side note* Skin so Soft is also great to spray on dogs to prevent flees and mosquitoes biting them).
We also keep a Flo-tron hooked up outside near our house door and at night bring it in to catch any strays who made there way inside. On the shop page, I'll include the link on where we got ours and what brand. The people at this campground were very nice and friendly. You can swim, fish, hunt for waterfowl and if you have a sleeper boat, you can sleep on the river. I wish we brought our fishing poles because there are tons of different type of fishes here. This is a neat area if your ever near Sacramento.

We stayed here in early February at the Cole Creek campground. The rest of the other campsites were closed due to flooding from recent storms. We didn't get a chance to get out and do anything because it was raining while we were there.
Reservations are recommended mid-May till mid September. Besides RV's, trailers and tents, this park also offers 8 individual cabins to rent. There's hiking trails, fishing, swimming and during the summer, they offer Junior Ranger programs.

The information on the parks website only provides the address to the ranger station across the highway to the other reservoir campgrounds. So I posted the GPS for other fellow campers looking for this campground. The campground name is San Luis Creek in the O'neil Forebay Reservoir at the San Luis Reservoir SRA. Confusing right? There are two campground sites here and the other is named Medeiros which is primitive located on the southern shoreline of O'neil Forebay.
At San Luis Creek campground, some of the sites are close to the lake and others are not. When we stayed here in October our campsite was #8 and we wanted to be closer to the lake and asked the camp host. She called the ranger station and we were able to move to campsite #6 We saw the sun set over the lake and it was gorgeous. The camp host told us in certain areas on the walking path near the lake, you can get some cell service. We enjoyed our stay here with roomy site pads, lake view and made new friends.

We arrived while it was raining and the site we reserved #16 was flooded. We were moved to campsite #20 which was a little better but the whole campground was pretty muddy. Quick note, for campsites #1 to #30 there are no sewer hookups but there is an RV dump station near the exit. Our RV needed to be leveled and luckily we had a lot of wood pieces to help us.
The Marina was across the road and in walking distance but didn't look like a good place to fish because it was busy with boats and fisherman. We drove over to Morro Bay rock and tried our luck fishing there. I lost a lot of lures due to them getting caught in the rocks. There's a lot of neat shops near the water front and great restaurants to eat at. Overall, this was a neat place to stay and will definitely be back.

This was a great find and just a few minutes off the highway. The campground is close to the lake and we saw many people heading out on paths behind their campsites. Lots of trails leading to the water here and there were tall trees surrounding the campground. We weren't able to get any satellite service and used our phones to stream movies at night.
The campground was very family friendly with kids riding their bikes and families walking down to the river. We could hear the train but it wasn't bothersome. It was a beautiful place to stay for the night.

This was a really neat place to stay and we definitely recommend this to anyone traveling through Indiana. For starters, there are 7 different hiking trails including the Calumet trail which is the longest of 9.2 miles. The trails are marked easy to rugged. Scattered throughout the park are many children's playgrounds and are well maintained. This park also has a sandy beach off of Lake Michigan with plenty of sand dunes around.
We stayed at the West Loop campground site #2 and near the showers and restrooms are the fresh water fill up and dump station. Staying at this campground you would never know through the trees was a beautiful beach. The only thing negative is there's an additional charge of $12.00 for park entrance which we did not know when we pre-paid for our campsite. Also, if your towing another vehicle, you'll get charged for that as well.

Cell service was intermittent
As you can see from the picture above, the campground is very woody and cell reception was spotting. If you made reservations and are arriving after hours, the park/visitor center will instruct you what to do. We had to use the GPS coordinates to get there.
Otherwise, it's a beautiful area and close to Memphis. We towed our little Suzuki with us and toured Memphis with it. At night we stayed inside watching DVD's because it was too muggy with lots of mosquitoes outside. We went there in the month of April.

No Alcoholic Beverages allowed, this is noted several times in the paperwork you receive. I didn't ask but assuming no drinking outside your RV.
The RV campground is huge with one way directions within 4 large loops. Needless to say we got lost and had to start from the beginning to find our campsite. The area was in a dense forest and the air was thick and still. I kept thinking ticks are gonna jump on me or my little doggie, so I sprayed us both down with Skin So Soft by Avon.
When we went to visit the state beach within the park, there were signs of no dogs on the beach or pier along with no beach tents or canopies.
We found too many negatives at this park to want to come back
Lots of people traffic on both sides of us...
